Paper is patient!
Even though Paper may appear
without blemish or crease or without
smudge or fingerprint,
its only capacity is to live in servitude
to the pen and the lucid or
confused mind that guides the hand.
It endures without anger or upset,
while carrying all kinds of messages
that vacillate between fact and fiction,
irony, insult, alarm, upset and worry
or
calming truth, righteous revelation,
legally binding contract.
Satirical and humorous narrative
allegories warn about intrigue and
treachery, betrayal and treason
and breaks in human trust and ethical
conduct.
Paper cannot discriminate;
it must stay neutral. Still, sometimes,
even Chairman Mao’s Book takes
on the color of his cause.
The validation of the messages,
paper is asked to carry, depends on the
keen perceptions of interpreters.
However, paper is not immune from
being stapled, mauled, crumpled,
folded, spindled and torn, just to be
discarded . . . and now chronicles,
libraries and dumps are filled to the
rim with it.
