Clark Abt, an entrepreneur, artist (painting), engineer, environmentalist, educator and social scientist, founded Abt Associates, Inc., on January 12, 1965 in Cambridge, a mission-driven company and global leader in research, evaluation and program implementation in the fields of health, social and environmental policy, and international development. Known for its rigorous approach to solving complex challenges, it was a place where innovation, bold thinking and creativity could tackle the toughest social issues of the day. Almost 50 years later, Abt Associates has grown into a global company of more than 2,300 employees with offices around the world. Although the company has changed and grown far beyond its early days, one thing remains constant: Abt’s mission to improve the quality of life and economic well-being of people worldwide. “I dreamt of building things, and then of building people, and then of building teams of people building better people and things, and I hope and dream that those who came with me on this adventure will carry on in the same spirit long after I’m gone.” – Clark Abt.
(An Example: From 1958 to1960, Clark Abt was Editor-in-Chief of “Audience”, a quarterly journal of literature and the art, published later in hardcover-form, designed by PushPin Studios from 1971 to 1973, with editors Tim Hill, L. Rust Hills, James F. Fixx, Robert Strozier and Geoffrey C. Ward.)
